What happens when fruits and veggies hit the heat? Why do they smell sweeter, look browner, and taste better? In this sizzling STEM workshop, young scientists in grades K–5 will uncover the flavorful mystery behind cooking through the Maillard reaction and caramelization—no grill required!


🍡 Kids will:

  • Observe how heat changes food through sight, smell, and taste

  • Build their own veggie or fruit skewers and simulate the browning process

  • Discover the science behind flavor with fun, food-based experiments

  • Create drawings and record observations like real food scientists
