VOLUNTEER

Looking for a way to make this a better world for children, starting with our own? Chesapeake Children's Museum serves children in the city of Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, and surrounding areas. Your children are welcome while you perform most volunteer duties.

Please consider the value of your contribution in any of the following areas:

DOCENT

Responsibilities include: greeting visitors, taking

admissions, program registrations, helping visitors

use the exhibits, and keeping the museum tidy.

EVENTS AND FESTIVALS

Help with activities for children and families at

community events. This could also include set up

and take down for the event and additional tasks

as needed.

MUSEUM WORKSHOPS

Groups such as schools, camps, child care centers,

scouts, and birthday parties come to the museum

for structured activities around a theme.

OUTREACH WORKSHOPS

Bring the museum experience to children at schools, child care centers, etc. Similar to the museum workshops, these are activities based on a theme, geared to the children’s age level.

EXHIBITS

Help design, construct, and maintain the hands on exhibits at the museum.
Exhibits include: Center Stage, Body Works, Express Yourself, and Around the World: Colombia, Hard Hats, Bay Window, and Watermen.

MARKETING AND PUBLICITY

Send press releases about upcoming programs, new
exhibits, and other museum news to the local media. Produce and distribute specific flyers as needed about group workshops, membership, and upcoming special events.

PROGRAMS

Coordinate a monthly schedule of classes, workshops, story times, concerts, etc. for children of all ages and their families. Support program facilitators as needed.

GROUNDS AND FACILITIES

Outdoor: weeding and mulching, watering, litter pick up.

Indoors: paint touch-ups, sewing, and repairs of exhibit items. Handyman/woman tasks around the building. Line up materials and professionals as needed for tasks.

FINANCE AND DEVELOPMENT

Analyze the financial inflows and outgoes of the museum for future planning. Seek out and write grant proposals. Design or help with fundraising activities and events. Solicit donations. Acknowledge major contributors.
